We are updating our taxi and private hire licensing policy. The amendments include an enforcement point-based system, driver vehicle condition checks and additional private hire operator information to comply with health and safety and employment law.

The draft amendments are coloured and underlined within the policy document.

We wanted to hear your views on the updated policy.

The survey is now closed.

At Full Council on 25 March 2026, the council agreed to adopt the proposed draft policy which will come into effect from 1 July 2026, subject to breach 19 remaining in the conditions.
