In March 2026 Harlow Youth Council launched a survey asking young people their views on youth vaping. The survey ran from 2 March 2026 to 29 March 2026, was open to young people aged 10 to 18 and received 714 responses.
The findings from the survey have given Youth Councillors a deeper understanding of young people’s views, experiences and attitudes towards youth vaping and have been used to identify key themes and consider what more can be done to raise awareness of the effects and consequences of youth vaping and help prevent young people from starting to vape in the first place.
The resulting report 'Be Smart…Don’t Start': a youth survey into the prevalence, effects and consequences of youth vaping, brings together the survey findings alongside useful information about vaping and current legislation. The report, which also includes realistic recommendations, was developed and published by Harlow Youth Council to ensure that young people’s voices are part of the wider conversation around youth vaping.
By sharing the views of young people in Harlow, we hope the findings can help raise awareness of youth vaping and inform future conversations and action around this important issue.
You can read the full results of the survey, as well as the Be Smart...Don't Start report in the 'Documents' section.
